About Judge Melissa Roubic

Family & Community Roots

Judge Roubic was raised in Portage County and made a conscious decision with her Husband, Dave, to return to Portage County to raise their family. They reside in Windham Township and have three adult children, two granddaughters, two puppies and two more grandchildren on the way!

Professional Experience

Prior to being elected, Judge Roubic was in private practice for 20 years, handling criminal, civil, domestic and probate matters for Plaintiffs and Defendants. During that time, she also served as an Acting Judge for the Municipal Court for 15 years.

Current Role & Responsibilities

Judge Roubic is the 2025 Administrative Judge for the Portage County Municipal Court and also served as the 2021 Administrative Judge. The Portage County Municipal Court includes three elected Judges who, along with the assistance of one Magistrate and invaluable staff, handle over 25,000 cases a year.

Community Engagement

Judge Roubic is actively involved in various community initiatives and legal education programs, working to make the justice system more accessible and understandable to all residents of Portage County. Judge Roubic currently serves as a Board Member for the Children's Advocacy Center and volunteers for numerous charitable organizations.

STAR Court Leadership

Judge Roubic is the Presiding Judge for Portage County's Successful Treatment and Recovery Court (STAR). STAR Court is a specialized docket developed to assist individuals with severe and persistent mental illness who come into frequent contact with the adult criminal justice system.

Professional Leadership

Recently, Judge Roubic was appointed to serve on the Board of Trustees for the Association of Municipal/County Judges of Ohio. This association is operated solely for educational and charitable purposes.
